In the best times you are like the sun
When you are around you bring me
Warmth, Comfort and Clarity
I thrive
As you remind me that I Am Alive
Forgetting that I have ever once felt deprived
But most others to me
Are
Like the Moon
Their light brings joy to my eye
But
They can’t dispel the darkness of night
And
Even when they shine bright and full
I still feel cold, lonely and lacking
With you
I have the days of June
Long and Lasting
Warm days
Setting my heart a blaze in the best of ways
Blissfully lost in your cerebral corn maze
Reclining in the tall cool grass under the dusky haze
As the night sets in your summery embrace
Lingers
Well past the midnight hours
Carrying me til I once again bask in your generous glow
Deep down I do know
That it can’t always be summer
But
That never stopped me from wishing so…
As nature has its ebbs and flows
Inevitably your summer’s glow too goes…
Away
Your distance is like that of the North in December
Where the days are ended abrupt
And the broadened nights are bitingly cold, frigid and unforgiving
In the day you still shine
But
Your days are as cold as night
And
Now all that seem to remain is the moon
Sparingly dispensing light
A fraction
of a faction
of the attention
and the affection
Only now reflecting the weakest version
Of the light-that-I-once-knew
Despair makes the minutes feel like hours
And the days feel like months
Grating down my nerves to the nubs
Until I eventually go numb
Alone
My heart turns to stone
I barely survive
As light is deprived
But deep down I do know
That it won’t always be winter
Because nature has its ebbs and flows
And from deep pain beautiful things do grow
No matter how low
On to hope I do hold
That I will once again bask in your soul’s generous glow
